The recipient of a BA in sociology from Providence College and an MBA in finance and real estate from the University of Connecticut, William Shields of Southborough, Massachusetts, is a commercial real estate specialist who began his career with Freddie Mac in 1995. In the following years, William Shields worked for Colliers Dow & Condon, Criimi Mae Management, and the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company ("MeltLife"). At MetLife, the Southborough resident managed a portfolio of more than 30 mortgage loans that totaled $169 million and originated new commercial mortgage loans.

From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Shields served as an acquisitions analyst with Davis Marcus Partners, where he evaluated more than $1.5 billion in commercial acquisitions and was significantly involved in the management of a portfolio that included 28 buildings.

Since 2003, Mr. Shields has leveraged his investment and real estate experience to become one of the top loan officers within the Real Estate Group of John Hancock, an affiliate of Manulife. He is a three-time winner of the Manulife Stars of Excellence Award (2006, 2015, 2017).

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Shields is a volunteer coach of youth soccer, basketball, football, and baseball. He also lends his time to soup kitchens throughout the region. His personal interests include photography and travel.
