William B. Travis, former Sheriff of Denton County, TX, has served in law enforcement and related professions for 20 years. He entered the field as a patrol officer for the Dallas Police Department, after which time he became a boatswain with the United States Coast Guard Reserve in Gulfport, Mississippi, and Houston, Texas. Sheriff Davis then served with the security police at the Brooks and Carswell Air Force bases for the US Air Force Reserve, during which time he also served as a special agent with the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
In 1998, driven by the need to care for his young daughter, William B. Travis established a business investment company that he called X-Ray Business Solutions. He focused exclusively on this company until 2013, when he returned to law enforcement as Sheriff of Denton County, Texas.
Over the course of four years, Sheriff Travis developed a new policy manual and review of general orders. He re-developed the department's call priority systems and created new procedures for several departments, while also promoting crime awareness throughout the departments. He introduced a new public safety radio system that improved communication with officers and hired eight new deputies, which allowed him to develop a new community policing strategy and improve department efficiency.
In recognition of his efforts, Sheriff Davis received the honor of Master Peace Officer from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. He has since returned his focus to X-Ray Business Solutions, now active in high yield bond investments.
