Vadym Novynskyi, a member of Ukraine's parliament and co-owner of Smart Holding Group, was born in Russia in 1963. He relocated to Ukraine in 2007 and became a Ukrainian citizen in 2012. Novynskyi has earned a reputation for his philanthropic work in healthcare, culture, and historical preservation, as well as his efforts to improve the welfare of mothers, children, and families.
Currently residing in Kyiv, Novynskyi started his career with Russian companies before joining Lukoil North West in Ukraine in 1996. He later purchased multiple metallurgy firms in Ukraine, which paved the way for the establishment of Smart Holding Group in 2006 when he partnered with Andrei Klyamko.
In 2007, Novynskyi traded his consolidated companies for a stake in Metinvest, an iron ore producer, and Smart Holding Group now holds a 23.75% stake in the company. The conglomerate also invests in the gas and oil, shipbuilding, agriculture, and development sectors. Among the companies owned by Smart Holding Group are Amstor, a supermarket chain, and Regal Petroleum, a gas company.
As a former People's Deputy of Ukraine, Novynskyi co-authored more than 100 draft laws focused on infrastructure and economic development, aid for internally displaced individuals, and the protection of religious communities' rights. Novynskyi is married with four children.
