About Me
Tom S Chang MD is a well-established clinician, educator, and surgeon on American soil. His career in the ophthalmology field was nurtured in various universities namely, the University of Toronto where he did Bachelors in Medicine. This was in the year 1984 to 1988, then proceeded to Emory University in 1994 for his post-graduate training. Here he underwent a Vitreo-retinal Surgery Fellowship for one year. He later joined the University of British Columbia in 1999 and did an MBA program in Health Science in Epidemiology.


After undergoing his intensive training, Tom S Chang MD gained the post of assistant professor at the British Columbia University. Here, he worked in the ophthalmology faculty for five years after which he got fully promoted to the post of full professor. After his tenure at the university, he worked at the Doheny Eye Institute for more than 6 years. Here, Tom S Chang MD was responsible for the institute's fellowship. His prominence rose when he actively took part in the first successful surgical implantation of cell treatment. A procedure he did in collaboration with Johnson and Johnson Stem Cell Institute.


Dr. Tom S Chang MD is the current founder, Co-CEO, and Retina Surgeon in Acuity Eye Group holdings. The center has its headquarters in Pasadena, California as well as more than 60 fully operational eye medical centers across the US. The Acute Eye Group has strong ties with various major hospitals in the US and this makes it possible for it to have more accessibility to the patients. He holds certifications from the American Board of Ophthalmology and the California State Medical License.
