The recipient of a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Notre Dame, Tom Plouff subsequently earned a juris doctor from the school, after which he began working as an antitrust litigation attorney with the Federal Trade Commission. Tom Plouff later was a trial attorney for the United States Justice Department's Tax Division, and then for nine years as an Assistant United States Attorney where he prosecuted white-collar fraud cases in the Northern District of Indiana. Since 1993, he has prosecuted serious personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Tom Plouff has successfully tried many cases on behalf of his clients, several of which have been record setting and high multi-million dollar verdicts. Among others, he obtained more than $11 million for a client in a medical malpractice case as well as more than $4 million for an electrician who was injured on the job. He also recently won a $35 million jury verdict in a case against Johnson & Johnson involving the company's defective Prolift transvaginal mesh product. Supplementing his pursuits in the legal field, Mr. Plouff holds membership with the Illinois Bar Association and has taught trial advocacy to law students, including over five years with the University of Notre Dame Law School.
