مواجهات في مسيرة باريسية ضد قانون العمل - فرانس 24

الأردن: موقع عمّاد المسيح في قائمة اليونسكو وسط تدني أعداد السياح

عدة أشهر مرت منذ أن سجلت منظمة اليونسكو موقع معمودية المسيح في الأردن، على قائمة التراث العالمي. إنه المكان الذي يؤمن كثير من المسيحيين في العالم أن المسيح عمّد فيه على يد يوحنا المعمدان، مقابل موقع مشابه على الضفة الأخرى في الأراضي الفلسطينية.

فرنسا - مهاجرون يدرسون في إحدى أعرق الجامعات الباريسية

من بين المئات من المهاجرين الواصلين إلى أوروبا، يحلم كثيرون باستكمال دراساتهم العليا التي بدؤوها في بلدانهم. في فرنسا، تحظى مجموعة من المهاجرين بفرصة الدراسة، في إحدى أرقى الجامعات الباريسية: المدرسة العليا للأساتذة، نورمال سوبيريور. المشروع انطلق بمبادرة من بعض طلاب هذه الجامعة، ويشمل دروساً في اللغة الفرنسية، والفنون المسرحية وزيارات إلى متاحف.

هجوم الربيع: تزايد عمليات طالبان من سنة إلى أخرى

بان كي مون في جنوب السودان، كير ينوي لقاء مشار

وصل الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة بان كي مون إلى جوبا، عاصمة جنوب السودان، حيث التقى بمئات من اللاجئين الهاربين من النزاع المسلح بين قوات الرئيس سلفا كير وأتباع نائبه السابق رياك مشار. بان كي مون يريد دفع طرفي الصراع إلى رأبه، على وقع مخاوف من حدوث عمليات تطهير عرقي.

قبيل الانتخابات البرلمانية في جنوب أفريقيا، ألغى الرئيس جاكوب زوما زيارة كانت مقررة إلى منطقة ماريكانا، شمال شرق البلاد، حيث يلقى معارضة من قبل عمال مناجم البلاتين وعائلاتهم. ينفذ هؤلاء إضرابا عن العمل ويتهمون زوما بتجاهلهم والانحياز لأصحاب شركات التنقيب.

Belaïd's assassination in Tunisia: "Ennahda has at least covered up!" (TV5 Monde)

On February 6, 2013, Tunisian opposition figure Chokri Belaïd was shod dead outside his house in the capital. The assassination led to a wave of protests in the country, as the opposition accused ruling Ennahda islamists of the Belaïd's killing. In an interview on the same day, Mokhtar Trifi, opposition activist, considers Ennahda has at least covered up the assassination by not strictly applying the law.

Jordan's book clubs: The litterature revolution (Mouvement)

"La révolution des lettres" (The litterature revolution) is a four-page article about "Inkitab", one of the largest book clubs in Jordan. Such clubs have become widespread in this Middle-Eastern kingdom, especially with the young "Arab Spring" movements. The article, published in the French culturual magazine "Mouvement" was done in collaboration with colleagues François Hume-Ferkatadji and Pierre Millet-Bellando.

In September 2012, I recieve in Jordan two French colleagues: Pierre Millet-Bellando and François Hume-Ferkatadji. The country talks football. The national team is hoping to qualify for the first time in its history to the World Cup finals. We meet jordanians in the streets, ex-footballers and officials including prince Ali Ibn Al Hussein, president of the Jordanian Football Association. Biking to France's largest nuclear power station (FranceTV info + Campagne En Nord)

Nuclear power was an important element of discussion during France's 2012 presidential election campaign. While candidates and politicians were debating in the media, Pierre Tremblay and I chose to visit, on bicycles, those who live near Gravelines, the largest nuclear power station in Western Europe, situated in the north of France. Amman's March 24 sit-in ends in violence (The Jordan Times)

As part of "Arab Spring" contestation movements, the Jordanian capital Amman saw on March 24, 2011 one of its largest pro-reform rallies and one of the rare demonstrations ending in violence in this country.

The demonstrators, one of whom lost his life, were attacked by a group of "thugs" believed to be regime-backed.

Gendarmerie forces dispersed the protestors with water hoses and batons, putting an end to the sit-in that was planned to be open-ended.

The event marked Jordan's political movement and was a turning point in the relationship between different youth and political factions in this young kingdom.

Man shot during Jordan Valley rally pursues truth (The Jordan Times)

During a pro-Palestinian demonstration in the Jordan Valley in May 2011, Jalal Ashqar was shot by an unidentified person. He recieved a bullet that remained in his sacral bone. Jordanian authorities said they were investigating to know the perpetrator, but no probe result was ever announced. At The Jordan Times, we were the first media to cover his then-untold story.
