A French "Grande Ecole" or elite school for engineers, with 1,000 graduates a year. The Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers is a leading French engineering school in the fields of mechanics and industrialization. The school trained 85,000 engineers since its foundation in 1780 by the Duke of La Rochefoucauld-Liancourt. It is a "Public Scientific, Cultural, and Professional Institution" under the authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. A unique institution led by a single management team, Arts et Métiers ParisTech consists of eight Teaching and Research Centers and three Institutes spread across France.
The engineer diploma Arts et Métiers ParisTech is equivalent to a U.S master's degree.
As well, Arts et Métiers is a founding member of the ParisTech PRES, higher education and research center, which consists of 12 of France's most prestigious "grandes écoles" or elite higher-education institutions.
