Medicam is the membership organization for NGOs active in the health sector in Cambodia. In 2000, it comprised ninety-nine member organizations (both international and local).
As the first Executive Director of the organization, I established the office (administration, finance, personnel, network, etc.) first...
Detailed Description
Then, duties included an official representation role of the NGOs at official meetings, including high-level ones, with Ministry of Health, WHO, World Bank, ADB, etc.
It included also the chairing and organization of a monthly conference of health professionals, the editing of a newsletter, and advocacy works -- including through the national medias -- and all network building between NGOs, UN, bilateral, and government agencies.
Achievements include also the setting up of a 300-member productive electronic network of health professionals. During my tenure, MEDICAM was awarded the title of "Centre of Excellence" by the Asia Foundation.
Nowadays, some 16 years after I established this organization, the latter is still a key player of the Cambodian civil society.
