The UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 2012 decided to establish an intergovernmental open working group that will submit its report containing a proposal for sustainable development goals (SDGs) to the UN General Assembly. The Division for Sustainable Development (DSD) in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is responsible for the follow-up to the Rio+20 outcome.
