An experienced venture capitalist, Sonia Gulati currently serves as an Executive in Residence at Kairos Ventures. Immediately prior to her position with Kairos ventures, Sonia Gulati spent almost two years as an Assistant Director at New York Ventures, a $100 million early stage fund. At New York Ventures, Sonia led investments in early stage companies with transformative technologies in therapeutic areas ranging from immune oncology to diabetes. As Assistant Director, she was responsible for driving the investment process including sourcing deals, due diligence, creating investment memorandums, executing deals and serving as a board observer for her portfolio companies. Dr. Gulati's past experience ranges from working as a consultant at BluePrint Research Group to working as a freelance science writer. She has also volunteered as a biotech venture associate at Harlem Biospace. Sonia Gulati completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University after earning her PhD in metabolic biochemistry at the same institution. While completing her doctoral studies, she received the Marija Chouinard Award for Excellence in Research and the Elsevier award for best oral presentation by a young investigator. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time hiking, reading fiction, and practicing yoga. She also frequently attends biotechnology events and belongs to Women in Venture Capital.
