For over three decades, Scott Schwieder served Rochester, Minnesota in a variety of capacities. As a Senior Engineering Technical Inspector with the city, Scott Schwieder was tasked with oversight of contractors working on Rochester municipal projects, as well as state and federal-aid jobs.
Guiding general contractors and subcontractors, Mr. Schwieder ensured that benchmarks were met and that monthly pay was allocated as work progressed toward completion. He also maintained records of work activities so that repairs and future construction could proceed smoothly, particularly when it came to underground utilities.
In addition, Scott Schwieder served as Rochester’s Survey Party Chief and led topographic-mapping teams. These activities informed those involved in complex Engineering Division projects to help avoid inaccuracies that could lead to costly construction issues, as well as utility and traffic challenges. Among other accomplishments, Mr. Schwieder received a Certificate of Appreciation from Rochester’s Mayor for the construction and design of a city bus transfer station.
