About Me
Over her career, Sarah Hadley Yakir has received multiple awards for her musical talents, including the Ravel Foundation's Quartet Prize at the 2017 Fontainebleau Festival, first prize in her age category at the 2010 Canadian Music Competition, and the grand prize in the 2005 Sound Symphony Orchestra Competition.

Sarah Yakir attends the New England Conservatory, where she studies the violin earning a bachelor of music in 2017. She continues her studies there in a Masters program under Donald Weilerstein and Soovin Kim. At NEC she earned distinction as one of the finalists in the 2016 Conservatory Competition and from from 2015 to 2016, she led performance and master classes for local school children in the Boston area. Beyond her studies at NEC, Yakir continues her solo career having performed major concertos with the Pioneer Valley Symphony and the Mount Holyoke Symphony Orchestra. She is a founding member of the newly formed Vicia Quartet where she is first violin. The Quartet has played concerts throughout Boston and Western Massachusetts .

In addition to making music and teaching the violin she enjoys diverse hobbies and interests, from hiking and spending time in nature to participating in environmental political action, and contra dancing. To avoid violin-related injuries, she is committed to yoga.
