Planning: Serve as a member of the Faculty Board and relevant library committees. Plan and set goals and objectives for the future of the Medical Library. This responsibility includes determining the services needed, the most effective way to provide them, and the resources necessary to support them.
Marketing: Market and promote the Medical Library and its products and services. Responsibilities include publications, programming and public relations; develop and manage relevant research and subject guides using the LibGuides system
Customer Services: Provide proactive customer-oriented services provided by the Medical Library. This responsibility includes activities like reference/research services and accessing resources.
Collection Development: Manage both printed and electronic collections of the Medical Library. This responsibility includes to identify suitable resources for the Faculty of Medicine and to purchase them within assigned budgets.
Human Resources: Manage the personnel of the Medical Library. This responsibility includes hiring, training, and evaluating personnel.
Administration: Manage and direct operations and facilities of the Medical Library. This responsibility includes activities like establishing goals, monitoring statistics, developing work plans, managing facilities, and supervising on a day-to-day basis.
Plan, implement and evaluate policies & services of the Access Services Division. Main services include circulation and library access privileges, on and off campus document delivery, space and stacks management and photocopying;
Define goals, set policies, and implement plans for Access Services within the framework of the HKUL current priorities and objectives;
Manage and supervise 43 full-time equivalent; and students from job placements;
Lead and participate in library-wide operational prioritized projects;

Give lectures for programs of “Master of Science in Information Technology in Education” and “Master of Science in Library and Information Management”. Subjects taught: Organizing Information; Metadata and networked environment; Information sources and services.
Conduct tutorials and lectures for students at Certificate, Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters levels in the area of Library and Information Science. Apart from the certificate courses, all diplomas are conferred by the Charles-Stuart University in Australia.

Communicates with local, overseas libraries, other document delivery agencies and internal library customers on ILL issues. Liaise with photocopier and paper suppliers on photocopiers supply and charges;
Evening reference desk duties during school terms and perform other projects as assigned.
Perform original cataloguing on non-print, Electronic and music materials, e.g. Audio-visual materials, computer files, microfiches, microfilms, maps, games, kits, charts, transparencies, electronic journals and databases and music;
Assist the chief cataloguer to make decisions on cataloguing issues; e.g. Decide new cataloguing formats for new materials; maintain cataloguing authorities; perform quality control on cataloguing records;
Provide supervision and training to library trainees from overseas library schools, library assistants and newly employed Assistant Librarians on descriptive & subject cataloguing, classification and on various library projects;
Liaise with Audio-visual materials outsourcing providers with Systems Dept. for diagnosing and analysing problems of the cataloguing module of INNOPAC;
Responsible for various projects: e.g. The Last Governor Online project, the Electronic Resources Management Project and the Regrouping of Nonprint Materials Project;
Assist the Systems Librarian to maintain the INNOPAC cataloguing module;
Collect Internet Resources in the area of Computer Science;
Take up after-hour and Saturday afternoon Reference duties on a roster-basis. Provide library tours and user education on using library materials, library automated catalogue and electronic resources.
Cataloguing: performed copy & original cataloguing to all materials acquired by and donated to the libraries;
Technological and computing supports: provided technological supports to the library system “BookPlus” and all computing equipments used in the libraries. Represent the library to liaise in meetings with Information System Branch (ISB)
Supervision: supervised Library Assistants on cataloguing issues and Senior Library Assistants on various issues when took up Branch Librarian duties at different branches.
