An engineering graduate of the Sault College of Technology, Russ McMeekin began his career in the energy and technology sectors with a computer-aided design (CAD) firm that was eventually purchased by Honeywell Corporation. Over the next decade, he held a range of leadership positions with Honeywell, including serving as the group president of the advanced software technology and optimization division. During this time, Russ McMeekin also received several company honors and was selected to take part in the executive development program.
Russ McMeekin left Honeywell in 2001 to take a position as the CEO of ViaFone in San Francisco. While directing all strategic, operational, and financial management of the company, he led a merger with NASDAQ Extended Systems and then contributed to a second merger with Sybase SAP. In 2003, he joined Progressive Gaming as CEO, a role he held for five years.
Since 2009, Mr. McMeekin has held several executive positions in the energy sector, including serving as the CEO of SCI Energy, a role in which he won the GE Ecomagination award. He also guided Energy Knowledge as partner and chairman, deploying operational strategies that improved business and ultimately led to the firm's acquisition by Japanese electricity giant Yokogawa Electric Corp. Currently, Mr. McMeekin leads as CEO of Universal mCloud, a provider of technology solutions to the energy industry.
