An experienced commercial lawyer and financial services executive, Concord Equity co-founder and chairman Peter Stokes embarked on his financial services career as an associate with the Cape Town, South Africa-based law firm of Fairbridges Wertheim Becker. After working for this firm from 1997 to 2000, and before co-founding Concord Equity in 2004, Peter Stokes relocated to London, where he served for a year as legal counsel with the British mobile phone retailer The Carphone Warehouse Group, and for three years as both a director and a shareholder with the venture capital LP partnership Frontiers Capital.
In addition to serving as chairman of Concord Training, his company's maritime division in South Africa, Mr. Stokes now oversees a diverse portfolio of international investments that range from consumer debt, to insurance and oil production. He continues to drive significant company growth by sourcing new investment transactions and advisory mandates throughout southern Africa, Europe, and the United States.
