Sergio Paez

Sergio Paez serves as human resources director for the Leominster Public School District in Massachusetts, where he oversees personnel issues for a staff of more than 500 teachers, 70 paraprofessionals, and other support staff. His responsibilities include negotiating contracts, conducting investigations, and hiring new staff. In addition, Sergio Paez handles candidate recruitment and evaluates district staff.

Prior to his role at Leominster Public Schools, Sergio Paez managed district operations for Holyoke Public Schools as superintendent. His duties ranged from policy implementation and budget decisions to working with the human resources department and community stakeholders. Holyoke Public Schools held a reputation as one of the most underperforming districts in the city before Mr. Paez’s arrival. Over the course of his employment, he led efforts to make significant changes.

An innovative education leader, Sergio Paez has many accomplishments over his education career. He received recognition for his work on the Holyoke Early Literacy Initiative (HELI), a reading campaign initiative designed to increase school attendance and family engagement and was responsible for the creation of numerous student programs, such as dual-language programs and advanced placement initiatives.
