  • business valuation and giving strategic advice for Szarvasi Mozzarella Ltd. (with coaching from Deloitte)
  • helping the Amigos for the Children Foundation to create a social business
Detailed Description
  • The Szarvasi Mozzarella related project was a group project of four Consulting Club members. We had to analyze Szarvasi Mozzarella Ltd. and give them advice. We were supervised by one of the co-founders of Consulting Club, who now works for Deloitte.

We gathered information about the enterprise from public databases and via field trip. Then we analyzed the industry, checked the financial indicators of the company, the strategic opportunities. Based on these we created a new strategy, measured the risks, and prepared a corporate valuation for them. The project ended with a final presentation to the client about our advised strategy.

I was mainly responsible for analyzing the financial statements and highlighting the relevant financial indicators. Moreover, together with our team leader, I was responsible for the business valuation part of the project. We had meetings with the group regularly and we helped each other in all the other tasks as well.

They would like to launch a social business, where they can help to find work for the children's parents, who lost their job due to the child's chronic disease.

I worked on this project with three other Consulting Club members. In the beginning, we did the same tasks individually and talked about our findings and merged them at weekly meetings; in later phases, each of us had our own responsibilities as well.

First, we searched for how a social business looks like, and we made interviews with Amigos members about the current operation of the organization and about their expectations towards this project. Then we collected several business ideas, sorted them into main groups, discussed them with Amigos members. We also prepared a questionnaire for the parents to size up their job preferences. We analyzed the questionnaire, prepared an overview of the social business market and Amigos' VRIO analysis, searched for possible financing sources, checked some of the legal issues, and we created a profit model based on these. Finally, we presented them all these, supplementing with a detailed summary of the steps which they have to take to launch the business.
