As an on-call environmental inspector for construction projects in the oil and gas industry, Mike Stermitz draws on diverse experience in pollution prevention and response. He previously served as an environmental specialist with SWCA, where he conducted pre-construction evaluations as well as Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections for natural resource companies in North Dakota. Named lead environmental inspector on the Southwest Gas Paiute Project and environmental representative for Marathon Gas' pipe replacement project, Mike Stermitz also served as lead inspector for the installation of 10 miles of 22-inch natural gas pipeline for Andarko.

Mike Stermitz has diverse experience in waterbody protection, having previously served as a water quality specialist with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and as an environmental scientist for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana. In that role, he worked to protect tribal waterways and prevent runoff from construction projects across the reservation.

Mr. Stermitz began working for the Confederated Tribes following four years in the private sector as an environmental inspector. During that time, he evaluated a variety of sites for contamination and made appropriate recommendations and reports. Also committed to preventing pollution whenever possible, he helped develop spill protection programs and upheld the regulatory compliance of relevant projects.
