A longtime City of Mount Vernon employee, Michael “Mike” Paulercio of NY serves as director of consumer protection and oversees wide ranging activities, from mediating consumer complaints to assessing the accuracy of citywide weighing and measuring devices. Mike Paulercio also makes sure that petroleum quality is up to official standards and partners with the local police department as required.

Mr. Paulercio’s achievements in his position have included coordinating with the Mount Vernon Corporation Counsel in breaking up a cigarette selling operation. Through his efforts, many cigarette packages lacking New York State tax stamps were confiscated. His effort was described as important, not only for ensuring legal retail operations, but in preventing potential terrorist group funding.

His son, Mike, currently attends Westchester Community College while working as a grocery clerk at the Yonkers retailer Stew Leonard’s. He is responsible for assisting customers, keeping shopping carts in order, and maintaining the dairy products section of the store. The younger Paulercio has goals of becoming a physical education teacher and holds a graphic design certification.
