A business leader with over 40 years of experience, Michael Hockett of Chesapeake, Virginia, has spent the majority of his career in the auto auction and sales industry. Some of his earliest work included positions at Auto Dealers Exchange in Indianapolis and ADESA Auctions in Birmingham, Alabama. Prior to relocating to Virginia, Michael Hockett founded and ran Eagle Automation, an Alabama-based company that developed the first PC auto auction software system.
For the past two decades, Mr. Hockett has served as president and general manager of Chesapeake's Tidewater Auto Auction. After taking over the company in 1996, he revived the failing enterprise, transforming it into one of the country's largest auto auctions. His professional pursuits are now focused on property management and investment.
In his free time, Mr. Hockett enjoys boating and cooking for friends and family. He is also a pilot who has significant experience flying his planes on both business and personal trips. In addition to flying within US boundaries, he has made air expeditions to Guatemala and the islands of the Bahamas.
