Max James serves as the founder, chief executive officer, and executive chairman of American Kiosk Management (AKM), the largest owner-operated specialty retailer in North America. The company currently maintains thousands of kiosks, automated retail stores, and other common area specialty retailing locations. In 2010 the company became the first inductee into the Specialty Retail Hall of Fame. Prior to establishing AKM in 1997, Max James established himself as an expert in the specialty retail industry, successfully operating more than 80 Metabolife kiosks throughout the United States. He has additional experience in the commercial real estate industry.
Max James graduated with honors from the United States Air Force Academy, and then went on to achieve a master of business administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Before launching his career as a real estate professional and entrepreneur, he served the United States Air Force as a helicopter pilot. In this role, he flew more than 200 combat rescue missions, for which he received three Distinguished Flying Cross commendations.
