A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Mark Allen Hanrahan has more than two decades of experience in finance. He is particularly experienced in commercial real estate investment acquisition and disposition and has proven skills in project management and negotiations. The former managing director of Principal Real Estate Investors, he closed on more than $10 billion in transactions during his more than 20-year tenure. Currently, Mark Allen Hanrahan is a managing partner at Markmel Co., LLC. In this capacity, he handles source and close real estate transactions and consults on limited partner deals. Part of this role also involves sourcing and capitalizing venture capital transactions for early stage companies across the US, including He has worked for the company since its launch in 2009 and has maintained strong returns since inception.
Mr. Hanrahan began his successful career at Carney, Alexander & Marold CPA's as a staff accountant. He held this position for two years and was responsible for conducting audits and preparing tax returns. Following this, he joined Principal Global Investors as an internal auditor. Within a year, his talent in the field had earned him a promotion to financial analyst and he continued working his way up at the company to such positions as asset manager and finally in a senior leadership role as managing director. Throughout his various positions, he gained valuable experience in everything from debt underwriting and marketing strategy development to team leadership. Mr. Hanrahan supplements his hands-on experience with an MBA in finance from Drake University.
