About Me
Marion H. Martinez is a skilled and knowledgeable educational leader with over 37 years of administrative experience. In addition to her doctor of education in educational leadership from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut, she holds a bachelor of science in elementary education and a master of arts in special education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. Marion H. Martinez has also earned a certificate as a school supervisor and administrator and a certificate as a school district administrator from the State University of New York at Albany.

Dr. Martinez has served as the associate commissioner for teaching, learning, and instructional leadership with the State Department of Education in Hartford, Connecticut. Her responsibilities at the department included heading the largest division at the Department. She oversaw daily operations of three bureaus; Teaching and Learning, the Bureau of Educator Standards and Certification, and the Bureau of Accountability and Improvement. Dr. Martinez also acted as the state lead for the Common Core State Standards Initiative and the Next Generation of Accountability in 2010 and 2012.

Currently, she leads the Binghamton City Schools in Binghamton New York. It is the largest district in the southern tier with approximately 6,000 students in ten schools. Her accomplishments include; creation of an entry plan, development of a strategic plan, increased accountability and outreach to the community.
