Before beginning their career as community lawyer in Chicago, Mariana Karampelas completed a BA in political science and international studies from Northwestern University. They later resumed their collegiate studies after gaining admittance to the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Chicago-Kent College of Law. There, Mariana Karampelas garnered numerous academic honors on their way to earning a JD with cum laude distinction and a certificate in litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

In their second-to-final semester of law school, Mariana Karampelas began their legal career, providing mediation services across Cook County through the Law Offices of Chicago-Kent. They added to their professional credentials further after graduating, accepting a clerkship with Judge Lee Preston of the Circuit Court of Cook County. In this position, and in a subsequent one with Judge David B. Atkins, they carried out a variety of responsibilities, including drafting opinions, engaging with the judges on a range of legal matters, and hiring and training law interns.

After more than three years as a clerk, Mariana Karampelas left the Circuit Court of Cook County to become the owner and principal of their own law firm. Serving in these capacities since 2015, they endeavor to provide affordable legal services to members of the Chicago community.
