An accomplished professional with a diverse professional background, Marcus Asay has led a range of successful special projects in the marketing, economic development, and labor spheres. As executive vice president of special projects for the NBA’s Utah Jazz, Mr. Asay worked with a turnaround team with several marketing initiatives that helped the franchise emerge from millions of dollars in debt and led to a sale of the team for a $15 million buy-out.
In addition to his work in the sales and marketing field, Marcus Asay has led multiple successful economic and community development initiatives during his career. In 2002 he worked with the Hmong Community Cooperative to expand a series of health care clinics throughout northern California. He also served as a consultant to the Ute Indian Tribe, helping them parlay a $10 million grant into a casino, convenience store, and hotel.
Currently, Marcus Asay leads several labor and project development organizations, including the American Labor Alliance, the Farmworkers Enterprise Foundation, and ie/Cal Design & Development Center. In these positions, he draws upon education received at California State University, Sacramento, and the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird School of Global Management MBA program.
