As the principal of LNS Consulting Services in Victoria, Minnesota, Lu Ann Sidney builds on more than 32 years of experience in materials and product development. A graduate of the University of Maryland's doctoral program in organic/polymer chemistry, she became a senior product development chemist with the 3M Company in 1982. Over the course of her four-year tenure, Lu Ann Sidney spearheaded a research initiative that garnered three patents.
Subsequently named research specialist with 3M, Lu Ann Sidney has since gone on to secure two additional patents and a number of records of invention. She developed a new plastic coating for DataCard Corporation while serving as the company's principal polymer chemist, then went on to solve significant thermal transfer and laminate quality issues as materials scientist for Fargo Electronics. Sidney has also worked as a senior materials specialist for IBA, in which role she traveled frequently to New Jersey to develop temperature and dose matching programs for polymer powder development. In her current role as a consultant, she focuses on solving similar materials processing and analytic issues for a diverse client base.
