An educator with a background in senior administrative roles, Laurie Kimbrel works for the Atlanta K-12 Design Challenge (AK12DC), a public-private organization that strives to develop innovative prototype solutions designed to enhance student performance. As project manager with the organization, Laurie Kimbrel helps secure grant funding and oversees the Planning Team, which encompasses both administrators and school staff.
Prior to joining AK12DC, Laurie Kimbrel served in such capacities as superintendent, associate superintendent, and dean of students with schools and school systems in California and Illinois. Over her career, she has engaged with the broader education community through groups like Schools for Sound Finance, which she led as president, and Students First, where she continues to volunteer.
Also a speaker on education topics, Laurie Kimbrel has discussed the keys to success for first-year superintendents at the California School Board Convention and presented on women in education at the American Association of School Administrators Women in Leadership Conference. Most recently, she spoke about leadership development at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development National Conference.
