About Me
In a long and distinguished career, the list of courses taught by educator Laurel Panser spans a wide range of subjects, from economic geography and medical ethics to statistical methods and research. The list also comprises study skills, psychology classes, writing for professionals, philosophy, ethics, health, and other subjects. Currently, Ms. Panser serves as a part-time, temporary Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Psychology at Riverland Community College in Albert Lea, Minnesota, part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

Laurel Panser earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Arts in Geography at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and a Master of Science in Epidemiology at the University of Washington. Subsequently, she completed additional studies at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and Minnesota State University Moorhead. Ms. Panser holds credentials through the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system to teach geography, psychology, and health. She also attained certification at Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota, to teach online.

Among her numerous honors over the years, Laurel Panser garnered an Individual Award of Excellence and an Excellence in Leadership Award from the Mayo Clinic and listings in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. She received study fellowships and traineeships, including, in 2008, a Fulbright–Hays Fellowship for the Seminar Abroad program. Called Morocco 2008: The Delicate Balance between Traditional Identity and Modernity, the seminar afforded Laurel Panser the opportunity to participate in a group journal, study the culture, and write about Morocco’s medinas, the country’s historic city sections. In other teaching assignments, Laurel Panser served as a part-time Adjunct Instructor at several institutions in Minnesota, including, Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, South Central College in Faribault, and Minnesota State University Mankato. She also taught at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. In addition, Laurel Panser worked as a self-employed social scientist and consulting epidemiologist to hospitals, corporations, and law firms. In this role, she conducted medical research and taught the epidemiology of pregnancy, infertility, birth control, preterm birth, and related issues. Laurel Panser maintains memberships in Fulbright Alumni Network, the Minnesota Alliance for Geographic Education, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and Population Reference Bureau.
