A native of Lynchburg, Virginia, Kraig Culbertson attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria. After high school, he matriculated at Virginia’s University of Richmond, where he studied art history, participated as an active member of the mountaineering club, and played golf and club handball. Kraig Culbertson earned his bachelor of arts with honors before pursuing graduate studies at Richmond’s College of William and Mary (W&M).
After earning his master of science in library science, Kraig Culbertson worked in Paris, France, caring for medieval artifacts as an intern archivist with the Cluny Museum. Upon returning to the United States, he found employment as an associate librarian with the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections of the Princeton University Library in New Jersey.
For the past 12 years, Mr. Culbertson has served as chief archivist of the Rare Books Collection at the Earl Gregg Swem Library of William and Mary. His duties include records management and helping individuals access publications and digital collections.
