A business leader, Kishore Deshpande founded the Universal Software Corporation in Nashua, New Hampshire, in the early 1990s. Since that time, he has guided the company toward consistent growth as its president and chief executive officer. Under Kishore Deshpande’s leadership, the company expanded by a factor of 40 between 1994 and 1998, such that he founded a second company in 1995, Creative Software Corporation, to pursue web-based opportunities. Since then, his business ventures managed to weather the economic slowdown of the early 2000s, and Universal Software has expanded internationally, opening offices in India to complement its core operations in the United States.
Before establishing his business, Mr. Deshpande secured his MS in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he played tennis. Kishore Deshpande continues to play tennis recreationally today, making time to play several times a week. He also enjoys watching professionals play and particularly appreciates the athletic prowess of modern tennis player Roger Federer. A culturally engaged entrepreneur, Mr. Deshpande attends the cinema as well as live theater, and he enjoys classical Indian music by the likes of Lata, Mukesh, Talat, and others.
