  • Escalations in deployment and management of distributed applications in a clustered environment.
  • Perl Development with a strong emphasis on objects using the InsideOut data model.
  • As a Level 3 Analyst in the WebOps group in Enterprise Infrastructure, I am responsible for maintaining and delivering a variety of infrastructure applications including Zapp, Eclipse, Apache, Tomcat, Splunk, ExtraHop and F5 load balancers. Positioned between customers and the engineering teams, I provide an interface to filter and collate customer requirements and involved in helping to shape the development priorities of the products I maintained within the infra. I provide a single point of contact to a number of our larger, high profile customers and work with other groups to support new customers whilst they familiarize themselves with the support functions offered to users. From a technical perspective I am responsible for commissioning and maintaining the servers used to host various ops applications. This included the installation, configuration and documentation of applications and coordination with UnixOps to ensure new hardware was made available for use as required. Once servers had been put into production I am required to work with customers to project manage software and hardware upgrades to ensure that downtime was scheduled at suitable times whilst ensuring that server continued to be fit for purpose. Within the group I am often required to develop and document new procedures so that repetitive tasks could be packaged into work packages that Level 1 and Level 2 analysts can perform. This freed my time to focus on customer interaction and development. Working with the automation groups I developed a number of processes which were the basis for scripts to automate routine operations on the farm so that authorized customers could perform self-service operations on their applications without the need to contact support.
