The chief of staff to the chancellor and associate vice chancellor of human resources at Metropolitan Community College (MCC) in Kansas City, Missouri, Kathy Walter-Mack holds a bachelor of arts in journalism and political science from Roosevelt University and a juris doctor from the DePaul University College of Law. Before entering the field of school administration, she held positions as the executive director of Kansas City’s Desegregation Monitoring Committee and the director of compliance with Boyd Gaming. Kathy Walter-Mack embarked on her career in educational administration in 1996 as executive director of the desegregation monitoring committee, a group charged with overseeing implementation of federal court orders in the KCPS desegregation case.

Ms. Walter-Mack subsequently co-directed the Kansas City Tax Clinic for the University of Missouri School of Law before returning to KCPS to provide general counsel services for the district’s board of directors and administrative team. Kathy Walter-Mack’s current position with MCC allows her to develop and direct a number of financial and tactical initiatives in service of the human resources department.
