As a highly-motivated graduate of Slovak University of Technology, with a Master's degree in Biotechnology/Biochemical Engineering, I have undertaken several internships within leading laboratories in their fields of research such as German Heart Centre and Slovak Academy of Science. These placements have enabled me to develop an exquisite level of knowledge and technique skills in the field of microbiology, cell culturing, biotransformation, enzyme production and recombinant DNA technologies as well as my interpersonal and communication skills. Additionally, I obtained IELTS certificate (score 8) during my studies at NZLC in Wellington whilst improving my English language skills. Furthermore, shortly after that I have worked as a QA Officer at MSD AH in New Zealand. Regarding my personal characteristics, I am communicative, self-motivated, responsible, flexible, well organized and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Diploma Thesis: 'The Role of Cancer-Associated Carbonic Anhydrase IX in Cell Adhesion'
Details and Extracurriculars
'The Role of Cancer-Associated Carbonic Anhydrase IX in Cell Adhesion' Abstract: Carbonic anhysrase IX (CA IX) is a hypoxia-induced transmembrane protein expressed mainly in tumors and functionally is involved in pH regulation and focal adhesion, because of that the main goal of the diploma thesis was to study focal adhesion, actin cytoskeleton and formation of invadopodia in cells according to expresion of CA IX. We compared effects of extracellular pH and inhibition of NHE1 on mentioned processes in CA IX-positive and CA IX-negative cells. We observed that cells expressing CA IX cultivated in bicarbonate medium with pH 7,4 had about 30,8% larger cell area than the cells cultivated in pH 6,8. We also analysed spreading and maturation of focal contacts in tumor cells and our results showed that CA IX-positive cells were 33,7% more spread with more mature focal contacts, visualized by adhesion protein paxillin. Key words: focal adhesion, pH regulation, actin cytoskeleton, CA IX

Bachelor Thesis: 'Galactooligosaccharides Production Using Microbial beta-Galactosidases'
Details and Extracurriculars
'Galactooligosaccharides Production Using Microbial beta-Galactosidases' Abstract: Prebiotic galactooligosaccharides are substances with beneficial health effects on the intestinal tract of humans. Significantly stimulate the growth and metabolic activity of probiotic bacteria and simultaneously inhibit the growt of pathogenic microorganisms in human colon. They have a positive impact on mineral absorption, sugar and cholesterol blood levels, anti-tumor effect, stimulate immune system. For these reasons there is an enormous interest in the production of galactooligosaccharides nowadays. Galactooligosaccharides can be prepared by using glycosyl transferase and glycosyl hydrolases from various microbial resources. This bachelor thesis is focused on the production of galactooligosaccharides from lactose by using thermostable beta-galactosidase from the bacteria Bacillus coagulans and Bacillus stearothermophilus and compared of hydrolytic and transgalactosylation enzyme activity in cell lysates. Key words: prebiotics, galactosidase, galacto-oligosaccharides, lactose, Bacillus
