I have more than 25 years’ experience in QA/QC management with over 8 years in supervisory role manufacturing company and over 17 years as Deputy QC Manager, Snr. Inspection Engineer, QA/QC Engineer, QC Welding Engineer, QC ( Welding, Mechanical, Piping and Structural ) Inspector of Offshore and Onshore Oil & Gas Construction components such as Jacket, CPP Platform, Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG pipeline, Shipbuilding and Power Plant Energy.

  • The work scope will be supervision of the contractor’s inspectors in inspecting all mechanical aspects of the tanks/vessels in accordance with Code and Project Specifications, including material/equipment quality, fabrication at shop, testing and reporting. And also manage and monitoring construction site activity to achieve Project Quality level of the Cone Roof Tanks (Fixed-roof type) to be used for storage of Lubrication Oil, made from Carbon Steel Plate, between 100 to 300 kilo-liters in size in accordance with API 650, there will be twenty six (26) tanks/vessels (in the first stage).

  • Participated in preparing and implementing of surveillance program to assess contractor work progress, ensure and or verify contractor work product are completed meeting project quality levels.

  • Supervision, Monitoring and Manage of the contractor’s inspectors in inspecting all mechanical aspects of the projects.
  • Monitor and supervise the activities and work of Inspectors to ensure that all work within a specific area of the inspection activity is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.

    √ Oversee inspection of steel structural pre-fabrication and installation activities conducted at contractors / sub-contractors facilities and at site.
    √ Assist in structural material receiving inspections at site and review original material certificates for compliance to codes and specifications where required.
    √ Ensure traceability is maintained for the fabricated part as stated in the project specifications.
    √ Monitor and ensure the inspections are carried out to the required levels as mentioned in the ITPs.
    √ Witness the dimensional control inspections on the pre-fabricated and as well on the installed parts.
    √ Co-ordinate with other disciplines for interface activities, for example civil foundation interface with structural.
    √ Monitor the structural welding activities inclusive of fit up / dimensional control inspections.
    √ Monitor the contractor uses only qualified welders and follows the approved welding procedures.
    √ Witness NDT / review NDT reports as required.
    √ Final inspection, generate punch lists and follow up of the same for close out.
    √ Verify Contractor, Subcontractor Quality management systems, plans, procedures, and processes are in place.
    √ Monitor quality, issue non-conformance reports when quality deficiencies are noted and set in motion the corrective actions jointly with contractor.

    • An assistant project QC manager is entrusted with the evaluation of the issues that can crop up in future and can obstruct the smooth functioning of the project.
    • It is the duty of an assistant project QC manager to conduct a precise analysis of the project so that the firm gets some information about the returns that can be expected from the project.
    • A project QC manager forms various teams for smooth functioning of the project and often trusts his assistant to lead the team. So, it becomes very important that the assistant project QC manager has adequate leadership skills to help drive his team to give their best in the project.
      - An assistant project QC manager is also responsible for the speedy completion of all the assignments entrusted by the project manager.
      - The job of an assistant project QC manager involves maintaining good relationships with the supervisors and the workers. We often see that many projects are not completed on time due to the innumerable differences between the management and workers.
    • An assistant project QC manager can help bridge the differences by highlighting them to the project manager. This way, an assistant project QC manager can act as a mediator between people he works under and people who work under him.
      An assistant project manager is not only responsible for maintaining harmonious relationships with the workers, but he is also expected to ensure that the clients and investors are satisfied with the way things are being done.
    • An assistant project QC manager is responsible for maintaining records regarding the on-site control functions. While a project is being carried out, a project manager may ask the assistant project manager to keep a day-to-day record of the various aspects involved in the project. These can include keeping a track of the team-hours, expenses etc.
      _ An assistant project QC manager is also responsible for keeping his team updated with the changes in the organization through effective communication, presentations etc. This helps in transparency and also helps in building the morale of the team.
      - An assistant Project QC manager is also responsible for helping the project manager with quality-control programs to ensure that the equipment is in good condition and that equipment which has gone through wear and tear is replaced immediately.
