An experienced sociologist, Judy C. Morelock, PhD, obtained her undergraduate degree and master’s degree with honors from The University of Tennessee (UT). Around the time she commenced her doctoral studies, she began her longstanding career as a political activist, marching with black students who were advocating for a campus black studies program and founding the pioneering women’s rights organization The Feminist Coalition. Dr. Judy C. Morelock earned her PhD in sociology with a 4.0 grade point average from The Pennsylvania State University.
Over the course of her career as an educator, Dr. Judy C. Morelock served 34 years as a lecturer at UT and 16 years as a professor with the historically black Knoxville College. Her work at the latter institution earned her accolades from several student organizations. She has also received a Meritorious Service Award from the NAACP and an Outstanding Law Enforcement Award from the Tennessee Department of Correction.
As lecturer at UT Judy C. Morelock taught a wide array of courses in sociology, including Race and Ethnicity, Social Inequality, The Family, Social Movements, Social Psychology, American Society, Sociological Theory, and Social Problems.
