A retired professor who taught multiple academic subjects at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Jorge Dominguez once served as a professor for the study of Mexico and the chair of the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies. For 44 of his 46 years at Harvard, he served also as a faculty associate Leverett House, an undergraduate residence. Jorge Dominguez has also served Harvard tenures as the Clarence Dillon professor of international affairs and a Frank G. Thomson professor of government.

Jorge Dominguez currently resides in Moultonborough, New Hampshire. Since retiring from Harvard in June of 2018, he has continued to work in comparative politics and international relations with a particular concentration in both internal and external political relations in Mexico and Cuba. He is also a member of the Latin American Studies Association, the American Political Science Association, and the Council on Foreign Relations. In his free time, Mr. Dominguez likes to go hiking and attend various concerts and theatrical productions.
