A leader in the minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) field, Dr. Jon Ivar Einarsson holds a medical degree from the University of Iceland and completed residencies and fellowships in OBYGN medicine and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at Landspitali University Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, respectively. Dr. Jon Ivar Einarsson also holds a master of public health (MPH) in clinical effectiveness from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a PhD in gynecologic surgery innovation from the University of Iceland.

Dr. Jon Einarsson has taught in the obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive biology department of Harvard Medical School since 2006. In 2009, he designed the university’s first MIGS course, which he has since directed. Additionally, Dr. Einarsson serves as an attending OBGYN at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he directs the MIGS division and previously led the MIGS Fellowship Program.

A prominent member of the field, Dr. Einarsson has served on the editorial boards for distinguished medical journals such as the Contemporary Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. He has also been recognized for his professional efforts throughout his career with accolades such as the Robert Hunt Award from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
