While attending high school in Mishawaka, Indiana, Mr. Berkowitz earned letters in wrestling and football as an athlete and a 3.8 grade point average as a scholar. He took college prep courses in subjects such as math and science and performed well.
In his free time, Mr. Berkowitz enjoys a number of marine activities, ranging from scuba diving to big-game fishing. He often participates in offshore game-fishing competitions, landing trophy specimens of marlin and tuna and taking first place. Among other interests, Mr. Berkowitz holds a black belt in karate, is qualified as a commercial pilot, and has raced stock cars competitively.
