The president of Western Colorado University, Greg Salsbury is an established expert in marketing and communications with more than 20 years of leadership experience. For 14 years, Greg Salsbury held executive positions at Jackson National Life, an insurance company where he was repeatedly recognized for his marketing initiatives. He received multiple awards from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and the No. 1 “brand per spend” rating in the industry from the Ogilvy network. At the time he left Jackson National Life, he held the title of executive vice president.
Since joining Western Colorado University in 2014, Dr. Salsbury has increased enrollment at the fastest rate of any four-year school based in Colorado. Among his other accomplishments in the position, he has increased diversity from 12 to 19 percent percent and retention rates by 10 percent, and he played an integral role in securing an $80 million donation, a historic achievement at the university.
He has a master of arts in communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a master of arts in communication management and communications technologies from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a PhD in organizational communication from the University of Southern California.
