Introduction career summary:

Started as a Marine Engineer in the Navy. For 15 years and was working from Assistant Engineer up till position of Chief Engineer on different Oil- and Chemical Tankers. Held the position of Marine Engineer on Drills Ships. Conducted three (3) projects as Assistant Technical Section Leader up till position of Section Leader for Tension Leg Platforms and DP Drillship sixed (6) generation from construction side until finished first drilling program. Responsible for the Drilling and Marine Equipment. Currently senior surveyor with duties such as: Acceptance Test, Condition Survey, Drops Object Surveys, and Assessments for Personal, Safety, Equipment and Management systems for different type of platforms, such as Landrigs, Jack-ups, Drillships and Semi Subs.

  • Once all equipment and systems were individual tested, a system Integration test was completed and witnessed. During this test a Load / endurance test of the power plant and load / endurance test of the mud pumps were executed.
  • Special considerations were the high level of H2S expected during drilling operations and ambient working temperature was > 55° Celsius.
  • Off line testing was conducted and witnessed for HP piping system, standpipe manifold, Choke manifold and BOP stack.
  • Acceptance program based on Client was reviewed and modified specific for this type of land rigs. Pre-checks were implemented according and based on clients and international standards
  • In order to prepare the rig, equipment ans systems for acceptance testing were witnessed for installation of auxiliary equipment and systems once the mast was raised.
  • Start date was one 1 day prior to raising mast as the power plant was operational to complete DROPS object survey from drill floor level up to crown table.
  • On request of the client 1 experienced and qualified multi-skilled surveyors in order verify the status and the completeness of the rig assembly readiness for starting the acceptance testing with focus on the installation, operational condition and performance of the top drive, power plant, mud process equipment and systems, high pressure mud systems and well control equipment. In order to ensure consistency and adhering to the clients requirements the operators rig management will be technically supported on daily basis by surveyor.

    The purpose of the surveys was to determinate the visual condition and state if maintenance of equipment, in order to minimize downtime caused by a mechanical breakdown during drilling operations and to ensure that the equipment is maintained in a safe working order. Initial intrusive surveys was completed for the drilling equipment, mud system, the well control equipment, the power plant, the electrical equipment, the safety equipment, the maintenance system and the spare parts.

    Pre Hire audits:
    Scope of work included criteria used, such as internationally recognized standards, local legislative requirements, safety and operating standards, the originals equipment manufacturer’s maintenance and operating specifications and accepted oilfield and safety practices.

    Ship Yard Audits:
    The objective of any QA/QC and Project Support services was to provide a verification system that will ensure, to the highest degree possible, that the completed MODU’s equipment and systems comply with the build contract specification and all the applicable Statutory, Class and Industry requirements to ensure the MODU is Fit for Purpose and will operate with the utmost reliability.

    The final result was to achieve that the MODU, its systems and equipment where verified for following:

    • Inspected at daily intervals during installation;
    • Constructed or installed in accordance with the Approved Design Criteria;
    • Provided with traceably and certification to verify the manufacturing and test processes; Operated as stated in the Functional Design Specification (FDS);
    • Warranted by the builder and or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for their continued functionality during the rig’s drilling operations.
