Since November 2010
  • As Clinical Architect I work closely with client clinicians, the User Experience team, and Technical Architects to develop the next generation systems that will provide Clinical Decision Support and documentation tools to clinicians to support delivery of optimal, quality-focused, evidence-based care. These tools are the building blocks, coupled with improved analytics, that will allow providers and provider organizations to realize their potential in implementing various value-based care initiatives (PCMH, ACO).

Director of Product Management, Enterprise EHR

AllscriptsMisys Healthcare Solutions
Since October 2008

Director of Product Management, TouchWorks EHR

Allscripts
May 2008 to October 2008
  • As Director of Product Management, I provided clinical input to the design and enhancement of for TouchWorks v11 EHR's Decision Support, Health Maintenance Plan, and Clinical Workflow capabilities. I was an active participant and presenter in the "Voice of the Client" program which included Physician Advisory Board meetings focused on helping to design new features using input from a variety of medical specialties, as well as conference calls with Physicians users of TouchWorks to solicit feedback on new feature requirements and design proposals.
  • Manager of the Canopy ASP Operations team and outsourced hosting vendor (Mentora). With these teams, coordinated a successful migration of Oracle from Windows to Linux in order to support our growing client base. This position represents two changes from the previous position: the purchase of A4 by Allscripts, and the recent (1/2/2008) acquistion of ECIN (www.extendedcare.com) to form the Hospital Solutions Group encompassing both Canopy and ECIN. Continued as QM specifications expert until September 2007.

Director, Technology & Operations (Canopy)

A4 Health Systems
January 2005 to March 2006
  • Canopy Systems was purchased by A4 Health Systems. My duties as VP of Technology and Operations for Canopy were only initially changed by location (move from Chapel Hill to Cary) and an improvement in purchasing power (A4 had partnerships with Dell and Oracle). We experienced fairly explosive growth and expansion in data center operations as the client base increased, nearly doubling in all tiers (web, database, storage). When presented with an opportunity to leverage my clinical background, I took on an additional role as Quality Management specifications expert. In this role, I worked with clients and external vendors to implement CMS/JCAHO quarterly changes to Core Measure data to support Canopy's QM module.

Vice President of ASP Operations

Canopy Systems
March 2001 to February 2004
  • I led search to identify a HIPAA-friendly hosting vendor to house the Canopy application (Intel Online Services). Hired and managed the Operations staff to support growth in client base. Provided coordination and oversight of Canopy DBA and Development staff with Intel DBA support to complete successful SQL Server to Oracle migration. Successfully proposed to executive management and led the search for and purchase of a managed storage system (EMC Clariion), which paid for itself in reduction of hosting fees within a year and positioned Canopy to handle growth.

Chief Architect

Canopy Systems
Since October 1999
  • Led the initial platform selection, design, and coding of the Canopy Care Management application

Senior Informatics Consultant

Future Healthcare

At that time they were a state-wide network of Pediatric practices attempting to manage their Medicaid population under the Access II pilot program. An Asthma disease management module was added in the second year. This program saved the state approximately $1.7M in its first two years and was transitioned to another vendor as Future Healthcare began work on Canopy.
