  • Design, dimension and test automotive exhaust systems
Detailed Description
  • ACHIEVEMENTS:
Design of exhaust systems for several projects, such as:
    - Mercedes platform M276 (including Mercedes M-Class).
    - Volkswagen platform MQB (including AUDI A3).
  • Write calculation reports: description of the calculation method, the boundary conditions, the results and the actions on the design or the dimensioning.
  • Analyse the test results, interpretated the phenomenon causing deformation or eventually the breakage of the part, determined the actions to be applied to optimise the design.
  • Manage external providers for meshing tasks and some standard calculations. transmission of the CAD model, description of the tasks, monitoring, reception and verification of the work done (mostly by Indian subcontractors).
  • Determine the action plan for the tests and measurements: identification of the riskiest locations, then optimisation of these parts if needed before the customer validation.
  • Optimise the design and dimension of -existing or in development- exhaust systems. For example, optimisation of the eigenmodes by stamping (conducted thanks to the tool Optistruct) or design optimisation of the brackets.
  • Verify the original design: customers-required calculations (own weight, crash, modal analysis, dynamic analysis correlated with the measures, thermo-mechanics, life expectancy) and specific calculations (reaction to a corrosion fracture for instance).
  • Commit the original design in close cooperation with the design department.
