Carilion Clinic is a multi-specialty group practice with more than 500 physicians and eight not-for-profit hospitals, specializing in patient-centered care, medical education and clinical research. In April, 2007 restructuring and recruitment began for transformation to a physician-led,clinic model best exemplified by the Mayo and Cleveland Clinics. Public-private partnership created Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute.
Led 65 staff providing 30,000 annual clinic visits; support 30 physicians/8 sites.
Added seven providers, including endocrinology and allergy service lines to gain National Association of Children's Hospitals accreditation and support medical school.
