Elizabeth Kaleva has practiced school and employment law in Montana for more than 20 years. She began working in these practice areas in 1996 after serving as a clerk to Chief Judge Thomas Honzel of the First Judicial District of Lewis and Clark County. Elizabeth Kaleva then joined the Montana School Board Association as general counsel and director of policy services, in which capacity she advised on a variety of matters related to employment, school operations, and student services.
In her eight years of service to the association, Elizabeth Kaleva drew on a detailed knowledge of the Americans With Disabilities Act as well as the Office of Civil Rights. She offered legal opinions on student rights, responsibilities, and behaviors, as well as on matters related to the employment of district staff.
In 2004, Elizabeth Kaleva left the Montana School Board Association to establish a private practice in Missoula. She continues to represent school districts as well as government organizations and private companies in matters related to employment, labor relations, and school administration. Her focuses include student-privacy issues, harassment claims, and policy development.
