Based in Portland, Oregon, Effie Greathouse provides technical assistance for science and environmental initiatives throughout the United States as a director at Digital Resources for Community and Science. Before assuming her current position in 2012, she served tenures as a database manager with a collaboration between Oregon State University and the US Forest Service; a postdoctoral researcher with the Environmental Protection Agency in a project on nitrogen levels in streams and rivers of the Oregon Coast Range; and an internship in freshwater insect taxonomy with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Effie Greathouse has also co-taught college courses and led classroom discussions as a teaching assistant with the University of Georgia and a guest instructor with the Pacific Northwest College of Art.

Effie Greathouse holds active membership in both the Ecological Society of America and the Society for Freshwater Science. Outside of the professional arena, she enjoys dancing and raising two young children.
