A first-generation immigrant from Brazil, Eduardo Jany’s long career has been dedicated to protecting the lives of others. The executive officer of security operations for Bloomberg LP, Eduardo Jany also served in the U. S. Marines and several police departments.

At Bloomberg headquarters in New York City, Mr. Jany leads and advises on physical security. He oversees protective procedures at more than 190 worldwide locations and coordinates with government agencies for threat assessment and anti-terrorism activities. Mr. Jany also has taught more than 100 courses on security topics.

Before he arrived at Bloomberg, Mr. Jany spent more than 25 years in law enforcement in Washington, Minnesota, and Florida. His expertise covered K-9, SWAT, and narcotics operations, fulfilling command and managerial functions.

Mr. Jany also executed many tasks as an active and reserve Marine. Retiring as a full colonel, he led reconnaissance and anti-terrorism programs, and commanded several units. His duties also included investigations and law enforcement.

Mr. Jany has earned citations in all three fields, including the 2017 OSPA Award for Best Internal Security Organization, the Police Medal of Valor, and military honors including the Bronze Star. Professional affiliations include the Overseas Security Advisory Council and the Citizen's Crime Commission of New York City.

In his spare time, Mr. Jany enjoys boxing, bodybuilding, skydiving, and triathlons. In the Can-Am Police and Fire Games, he medaled in karate and swimming.
