Throughout his 15-year cheerleading coaching and directing career, Dru Schmith has helped numerous teams at different age levels achieve success at the National and Cheerleading Worlds competitions. Stressing a team-first approach, Dru Schmith teaches sport-specific skill techniques and emphasizes the importance of strength training and proper nutrition. However, he is also aware that different coaching styles are required to motivate different personality types. He most recently coached with Island Cheer and Tumbling and has additional experience with Varsity, All Out Championships, and Lake Mary All Stars.
Dru Schmith was also a program director with Longwood, Florida's Legendary Athletics, where he worked with team coaches to develop a practice schedule designed to serve more than 300 athletes across 15 teams. Additionally, he supervised 20 practices per week.
Beyond coaching within the confines of a team setting, he has also provided one-on-one coaching to athletes seeking additional training. Mr. Schmith holds an associate of arts degree from Seminole State College and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in biochemistry at the University of North Florida.
