An accomplished cardiologist and electrical engineer, Dr. Thomas Dalsgaard Nielsen is the founder and CEO of base2 Medical, LLC. Leveraging his clinical background in cardiovascular disease and more 20 years of experience in biomedical engineering, Dr. Nielsen works to create and streamline software for specialty medical applications. His past projects include CardioLab, CardioCath, and CardioMap (since acquired by GE).
In addition to managing his own company, Dr. Nielsen continues to practice cardiology with Dekalb Regional Medical Center in Fort Payne, Alabama. He previously practiced with Southview Cardiovascular Associates as the device clinic director.
Dr. Thomas Dalsgaard Nielsen obtained his MD from the UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed further training in internal medicine and cardiology at Duke University and the University of Alabama, respectively. Previously, he received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech. In addition to his professional experience, he has published a significant body of research in medical publications including the American Journal of Cardiology and CHEST Journal.
