For more than two decades, Dr. Elliot Gruen has held the role of general psychiatrist at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, Maine. He currently serves the hospital’s outpatient department at an off-campus clinic. In addition, Dr. Elliot Gruen has experience treating inpatients in the substance abuse, adolescent, and adult units, and has done consulting work for other doctors and hospitals.
Dr. Elliot Gruen has also worked at Maine Medical Center and Albany Medical Center. He completed rotations in psychiatry, internal medicine, and pediatrics at the latter medical center. Moreover, he received training at the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Pace University, and the University of Massachusetts.
Dr. Gruen enjoys a number of hobbies, including fishing. Over the years, he has fished in both fresh water and salt water, gone fly fishing in Yellowstone Park, and caught three northern pike. He also enjoys banjo music, having taken lessons while in school. His preference is the clawhammer playing style, and he has spent some time playing in a band. Furthermore, he has traveled to Prague and Germany, and devoted time to exploring old churches and restaurants.
