Through her private psychotherapy practice in South Portland, Maine Dr. Carole Orem-Hough works closely with clients to bring about positive change in their mental health. She relies on effective treatments like IFS (Internal Family Systems) to help people overcome their challenges, especially those related to trauma. Moreover, Dr. Carole Orem-Hough treats traumatic brain injury as well as cognitive decline using a technique called “qEEG guided neurofeedback.” To support her with her clinical skills she attends the International Society for Neurofeedback Annual Conference. In preparation to becoming a licensed clinical psychologist in Maine, Dr. Carole Orem completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Maine Medical Center in Portland. While there, she conducted group and individual psychotherapy sessions in addition to teaching a treatment method called DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). Before transitioning to the psychology field, Dr. Orem-Hough worked as an industrial engineer with Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis. Her responsibilities included conducting productivity analyses in preparation for automation. Later, she served as an account executive with IBM, selling mainframe systems.
